Meet the Experts
Francis Chan
Post-Doctoral Researcher
When I studied to be a marine ecologist, I went to some really beautiful places, coral reefs, for example; and it's fantastic, it's diverse, it's full of life. But in the next generation or generation after that, the world might not look the same.
Francis Chan's Biography
Francis Chan is a marine ecologist and Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Zoology at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, U.S.A. He received his Ph.D. in ecology from Cornell University. His research focuses on the causes and consequences of changes to the biogeochemical cycles of marine ecosystems. His current work examines the factors that control the development of low oxygen zones in the sea and the effects that such zones have on marine organisms and the underlying chemical cycles that support ocean food webs.
